How
Do You Design a Large-Format Project?
In
many ways, preparing designs for large-format output is similar to other
graphics projects. In fact, the same marketing piece that's handed to sales
prospects can easily be modified into a point-of-purchase or trade show
display. But there are some things to take into consideration when designing
for large-format:
You
can use standard design techniques, but the focus is more like designing
a magazine cover (headline design) than designing a print ad or collateral
piece. The number one goal in designing a large-format print is to use
graphically striking images because you only have a few seconds to capture
peoples' attention.
The
text in your designs should be limited to three or four clear words, or
maybe only one or two if you use a catchy phrase or a corporate logo that
sparks recognition. Also, typefaces should be clearly legible.
